Stephen Edward Mitchell is the last of eight children born to Don and Katherine Mitchell.  He was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan on March 11, 1948. He is married to Marlene Piggie.  They have four children and nine grandchildren. Stephen graduated from Benton Harbor High School and studied at Michigan State University and Eastern Michigan University.  He had a successful career as Director of Security and Operation Facilities in the Benton Harbor School System until retirement. He currently serves as the President on the Board of Education for the Benton Harbor School System.
